Os Diners eram restaurantes bastante populares dos anos 50, localizados, normalmente, na beira das estradas, onde os jovens gostavam de passar os seus tempos livres com os amigos. Lá poderiam ouvir música, nas famosas jukeboxes e experimentar os vários pratos, de estilo caseiro, deliciosos.
Entre os doces preferidos pelos jovens, encontravam-se os donuts! Vai um donut? Mãos à obra e bom apetite!!

1/4 cup sweet, heavy cream
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
3 1/2 cups sifted flour

1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
2. Beat eggs in mixing bowl. Add sugar. Beat well. Add cream. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to egg mixture.
3. Chill several hours. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut into forms. Fry in deep hot fat at 360 degrees F.
